We hosted the 3rd Launceston Beer Festival on Saturday along with Penpont Brewery and Firebrand Bar & Restaurant and it proved a big hit despite the dodgy weather.
Our head brewer, Joe Thomson, selected more than 30 beers and ciders from across the south west including those from Skinner’s Brewery, Harbour Brewing Company, Black Flag Brewery, Bude Brewery, St Austell Brewery, Bristol Beer Factory, Cornish Crown, Padstow Brewing Company, Sharp’s Brewery, Blue Anchor, Oakham Ales, Holsworthy Ales, Milk Street Brewery, Cornwall Cider Co, Polgoon, Cornish Orchards and Countryman Cider. We’re pretty lucky to have such an awesome selection on our doorstep.
Realising that it was likely to hammer it down, we put up plenty of marquees in the town square so people could eat and drink in the dry and listen to local blues and bluegrass bands Jeff Horsey, Out to Grass and the Becca Langsford Trio.
Clio’s Van du Vin went down well with wine drinkers and Firebrand Bar & Restaurant’s barbecue was extremely popular thanks to the quality local meat from Philip Warren Butchers and the Kernow Sausage Co.
Plans are afoot for loads more free events in the town square and elsewhere. To keep up to date, subscribe to the events list.
