Go Beyond Sessions | Live Music In Launceston!
Live music at Firebrand Brewing Co!
Everyone at the brewery has a passion for music, so we thought it would be great to start putting on our own gigs from our home base in Launceston. The name Go Beyond Sessions comes from our tagline for Patchwork Rocket Pale Ale, Go Beyond The Usual, which encourages you to step outside your normal and try something new.
Our first gig was in May, and it was a huge success! Headlined by Land of the Giants with support from Bailey Tomkinson and Saff Juno, this was such a great way to kick things off and bring a little bit of fun to our town. We were so pleased with the support and learned a lot from it on how to make the next one even better.
The next show is this Saturday, July 30th, 2022, headlined by platinum selling band, The Pigeon Detectives. We’re unbelievably excited to be able to bring a huge band like The Pigeon Detectives to Launceston. Massive in the early 2000’s, check out their songs “I Found Out” and “Take Her Back” if you need a refresher on their work. They’ll be supported by local Cornish band, The Ultra Violets, who have just opened for McFly at the Eden Project and performed at Leopalooza.
Obviously since we’re a brewery the bar is going to be showcasing a few of our core beers alongside some other bangers, be sure to come and try them all. We’ll also have wine, spirits, and soft drinks for anyone not feeling beer. To soak up all the booze, we’ll be smoking loads of brisket, pulled pork and vegetarian options so get here early and make a night of it.
Some thoughts from Head Brewer Joe on the Sessions so far - "The Go Beyond Sessions are a (slightly self-indulgent) result of some beer induced brainstorming sessions in the winter to answer the question of “what fun things do we want to do at the brewery this year?” We all love music, and we all love beer, and we all love food, so it made perfect sense to jam them all together and host a series of gigs in the space outside the brewery. First up were the super fun Land of the Giants, who not only played a great set, but also dealt so well with a few minor hiccups (like a power cut taking out the sound for 10 minutes). We learnt a ton, and now we’ve only a few weeks to go until the Pigeon Detectives come to the brewery. They were the soundtrack to my college years but have never managed to see them live and so what better to do, than to bring them to Firebrand. And only marginally less exciting is the support billing of Cornwall’s coolest indie band; the Ultraviolets. We’re quadrupling the size of the bar, doubling the staff, doubling the kitchen, the place is going to be rocking."
Taking place in our car park outside the brewery, Go Beyond Sessions are outdoor gigs so prepare for the worst. Feel free to bring camping chairs, blankets, and anything else to keep you comfortable!
We're planning on putting these gigs together regularly so get your friends together and buy some tickets online or from our taproom – let’s have a great time!
